Jamaican all-rounder Rovman Powell says he still aspires to play Test cricket for the West Indies team.

Powell, 26 years old, has emerged as one of the top all-rounders in regional cricket over the past four seasons.

However, despite playing 81 List A matches for the Jamaica Scorpions and scoring 2,206 runs at an average of 32.44, Powell has yet to secure his first Test cap for the regional side.

Powell told STAR Sports that despite his age, he still has time to make his debut for the Windies

"The ambition is to play Test cricket but if you are not selected, then you can't play," he said.

"There is nothing that is going to be a 100 per cent sure, but I have to continue to practise and to be consistent, and then it will come."

Powell said that he is committed to representing the Jamaica Scorpions in the Cricket West Indies Regional Four-Day Championship tournament this coming season.

"To be honest, age doesn't really matter because if you look at Micheal Hussey from Australia, he got his first Test very late, so it is not an age thing," he said.

"I will be playing four-day cricket this year just like the other years because I have never rejected four-day cricket before."

The right-arm medium pacer has taken 25 wickets from his matches List A, with a best of five for 36.

Powell has an average of 23.92 runs in 34 one-day international matches and an average of 20.50 in 26 Twenty20 Internationals.
