Prince Saj excited for big screen debut

Popular gospel artiste Prince Saj is anticipating seeing himself on the big screen today, after he landed a role in the Jamaican movie Redeemed. 
Speaking with THE STAR, the entertainer said this is his first major role and he is honoured for the opportunity to work with such a star-studded cast, which includes Hollywood actor Malik Yoba. 
“I used to act before but I used to do comedy. But music took precedence in my life so I placed acting on the back end of things. I knew the pastor Dr Otis Manning that is involved in the whole production, so someone recommended me. They needed someone to play the role of young Thomas, who is an ambitious and goal driven character. So, when the pastor reached out to me, I sent him a few videos and they decided that they wanted to use me for the role. It is just a good feeling to work alongside some of the big names,” he said. 
Redeemed is a faith-based crime drama and emotional family thriller based on the true story of an abducted woman, focusing on themes of betrayal, forgiveness, healing, and second chances. The movie, that will debut at Carib Cinema, also features rapper/actor Safaree, as well as Jamaica-born creative Jacinth Headlam and social media star Julie Mango, among others. 
Prince Saj, given name Saja Smith, left tongues wagging when he entered the Magnum Kings and Queens of Dancehall competition in 2022. 
“A lot of persons wanted to know what motivated me to take on the competition because I am a Christian and the competition is mostly entered by secular artistes. I am a product of God’s grace. God has seen me through some of my worst storms including homelessness, physical and emotional abuse, and I wanted people to know that no matter how broken you are, God loves you. Sometimes we have to get up out of our comfort zone, so I decided to enter the competition and I got a second-place finish,” he said.
